Keeping students healthy

We provide students with a range of weekly sporting activities to develop their skills, get regular exercise and have fun!

‘Through Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) students develop self management, interpersonal and movement skills to help them become empowered, self-confident and socially responsible citizens. The learning experiences in PDHPE provide students with a foundation to actively contribute to, and advocate for the health, safety and wellbeing of themselves and others in the community and beyond school. Students are provided with opportunities to participate in physical activity to develop movement skills and recognise the impact of physical activity on health and wellbeing.’ – NSW Education Standards Authority, Parent Guide to the NSW Primary Syllabuses.
Here at Mater Dei, we work in partnership with parents and the community to provide an environment that fosters your child’s development and meets their educational needs. We work to provide a holistic education, one that develops your child spiritually, academically, socially, physically and emotionally, in a community that is underpinned by Gospel values.

Our students have the chance to participate in a range of sports at different levels, such as in class, at school and for representative teams.

Representative Opportunities

We offer many sporting opportunities in the broad range of areas. Many of the sporting teams are entered into NSW State Competitions providing students with the opportunity to compete against schools from across the State and Country.

Physical Activities For All

Our sports program allow students to learn new skills and enjoy exercise, no matter their fitness, interest or skill level.

Gala Days & Carnivals

Students can compete locally against all schools in Wagga Wagga and participate in various gala days. Annual Swimming, Athletics, and Cross Country Carnivals offer pathways to Diocesan, NSWCCC, All Schools, and National selection.

Four Sporting Houses

At Mater Dei, every student belongs to a house group, fostering a strong sense of community, teamwork, and camaraderie. These house groups create opportunities for students to bond across different year levels, and develop school spirit through various activities and competitions.
